I’ve written for a varied selection of magazines, including The Lady, Early Years Educator, Open Sesame (The Open University newspaper), Dogs Monthly and Writers’ Forum. My work has ranged in length from single columns to double page features. Topics have included biographical features on famous performers from the arts, an interview with the designers of a computer game for infants, and writing about writing itself.
 
Quiz questions
I’ve created thousands of original questions to strict briefs for a specialist quiz writing agency. My work has been sold to clients such as Nintendo (for a console game called Buzz), Stella Artois and operators of electronic pub quiz machines.
 
Academic work
During my time as a degree student, I wrote extensively on environmental issues. I sharpened my writing abilities through producing countless essays on complex subject matter – and received consistently positive feedback about the quality of my work. This culminated in my being awarded a BSc degree (First Class Honours) in Environmental Studies.
 
Poetry
I’ve written various poems, including a short collection inspired by coastal landscapes. On two separate occasions, I’ve put forward examples of my poetry in competitions and in each case I won a cash prize.
 
Marketing
I got involved in a town’s campaign to reduce plastic bag use by providing a range of slogans to capture the spirit of an eco-friendly carrier bag. One was selected and printed on the manufactured bags, which went on to be sold throughout the town.
